Lucia's father is slain before her eyes. Her keep is overrun by wolves' heads. Desperate to protect what remains of her homelands, she flees to a neighboring keep to plead for support. She nearly reaches safety when a vicious ambush leaves her near death.

Stephen, foster son of Lord Edmund, shepherds the valiant swordswoman through her hallucinations and fevers. As she heals, he finds himself drawn to her strength, her honor, and her courage. But he knows without a doubt that she cannot be his.

When Ian, the nobleman's son and heir, decides that Lucia is the perfect target for his lecherous desires, Stephen finds himself caught in the most primal of battles - one which pits brother against brother and father against son.

All author's proceeds from sales of the Sword of Glastonbury series benefit battered women’s shelters.

Believing Your Eyes is book three in the Sword of Glastonbury series. Each novel ends in a happily ever after, which then leads into the next book in the series. Each of these full-length romances features its own flavor, atmosphere, and main characters. Each is set in a different part of medieval England and showcases the natural beauty of its region. Believing Your Eyes is set in Northumberland, in northern England.

Believing Your Eyes is a powerful tale of overcoming pain, healing from the past, and learning to trust again. It is suitable for teens and older. It does not feature any strong language and the two brief scenes of intimacy are gently described. Please be aware that this book tackles the delicate topic of sexual assault and recovery from it. Those who have experienced this traumatic situation should be aware that the plot compassionately explores this issue; some may find that material triggering of strong emotions.

I have constructed the scene so that readers can skip the scene itself without missing any important plot points. That way they can still follow the healing journey of the heroine who finds the strength to rise above and move forward with her life.

If you enjoy my series but have any concerns about reading this book, let me know. I will gladly send you the final chapter so you can read the happily-ever-after and the introduction of Constance. That way you can move forward to Book 4 with all the information you need.

As always, feel free to contact me about this or any of my books. I am on all social networking platforms as well as my own LisaShea.com website.

I would not read it again. This heroine gets around. First she willingly gives herself to her first betrothed and didn't even care for him. Then to the hero and then she is raped. Now this very tough walking and talking female warrior woman couldn't stand to hurt the man who was about to rape her. I did not like the rape part at all. When the villian and rapist is brought home dead she sleeps in her old bedroom, the one she was raped in, without a bother until much later. It was just all very unrealistic. I liked the heroine at first but by the end of the book I was doing a lot of eye rolling at her...

Believing Your Eyes A Medieval Romance The Sword of Glastonbury Series Book 3 eBook Lisa Shea Reviews

I love a good period romance and this book is an excellent read. The story flows nicely and the characters are interesting and their stories engaging. I like the fact that it is a clean story without graphic swearing or violence. I highly recommend it.
I enjoyed this book very much. There was plenty of intrigue and drama yet everything was kept well within my comfort levels for descriptiveness, scenes that many authors choose to elaborate on (i.e. Sexual encounters) were touched on enough
Enjoyable but at times not believable. Although real people have doubts and fears about love, the heroine overdid not trusting the one she loved. Also, near the end, she's in a two week coma which, back then, would have caused her to die from dehydration ... Then she comes out of it and walks from her room to the keep, on and on. This author did well with her research but seemed to get tired near the end and lost being realistic.
This is a young woman who has been raised to be a warrior, but even more unusual, her young man is proud of her for it. It was great to read their very slow romance, especially because they tried to be honorable in their choices. They did suffer from the usual flaw of just assuming things instead of openly communicating. This author knows a lot about the medieval time period and that added to the enjoyment of the story. I want to read more from her.
Lisa Shea has done it again with an original page turning read in this medieval romance! Lucia and Stephen make for a great Hero and heroine with many obstacles to conquer before the HEA ending. This was a bit of an emotional roller coaster for when they finally get together they are pulled apart. There are a few 20th century phrases that need to be corrected for this time period.
I loved reading this love story! stephen and Lucia are star crossed lovers and although Stephen is committed to wed another it still doesn't cool the love they feel for one another. He's a warrior and she's a warrior maiden who's more comfortable in mens riding clothes on a horse with her arrows, more than in a gown sitting by the fire. Still she's a feminine beauty who captures not only Stephen's heart but also his life long friends. It's a tale of trust and faith as well as love. A love that presents heart breaking as well as dangerous situations for the lovers and their kingdom. I did feel like yelling at Lucia at times because she is so quick to lose faith in herself as well as the one she loves. But of course the end was worth waiting for.
Stephen and Ian run across Lucia who has been injured by a group of men called the Gray's. They bring her back to their castle/keep where she is looked at and taken care of. She is more out of it then in for the next week and Stephen and Ian take turns keeping watch on her. She becomes quite attached to Stephen in particular. She is disappointed to find out later that he is betrothed to Anna. However she learns that the betrothal didn't come about in a very romantic way, at least not for him. Complicating things is that Ian appears to have his eye on her. The sooner she can make her way to her brother's the better so she can escape these feelings the better. But an incident delays her departure a little bit. Meanwhile there is the mystery of who is behind the attacks and why. And how much of a role did Evan, a man from her past, have in it? I found this to be as good as her other stories.
